Jim is a Christian Museum Guide at the Smithsonian National Museum of Natural History in Washington, D.C. He is passionate about strengthening the local church around the world, particularly in developing countries, through missions, evangelism, and Christian entrepreneurship. His travels have convinced him of the importance of equipping local believers to build sustainable businesses that can support their churches, pastors, and communities. This conviction has shaped his involvement with several ministries. At the heart of his work is the principle that when Christians faithfully invest what God has given them, however small it may seem, God can use it to accomplish much more.

He and his wife, Karen, have been married for more than thirty-six years and have four children and two granddaughters. His varied career has included work in computer security, sixteen years as a Russian affairs analyst for the U.S. government, and thirty years of commissioned service in the U.S. Army Reserve, retiring as a colonel. He has also served as a church elder and is an author with interests ranging from cybersecurity to history and ministry. In retirement, he enjoys traveling, spending time with his family, ham radio, and writing, including work on a biography of Harvard’s first president, Henry Dunster.
